An aquatic mammal from the mustelid family.
For a very long time, the Earth’s climate and topography changed dramatically, directly affecting the flora and fauna, including the otter’s habitat in the Taninim Stream basin. Earthquakes and volcanic eruptions reshaped the area completely. The surviving flora and fauna had to adapt to and affect their habitat in turn.
Previously a solitary animal that lived in holes abandoned by other species, the otter has become a social animal that lives in colonies with other otters. The otters now build their own homes — ones that meet their needs.
The otter’s paws have also changed, its two middle fingers elongating to better serve it in building its home. The otter has developed weaving techniques. It now builds structures from waterlily roots and uses debris to reinforce them with a kind of exoskeleton.
