A species of bramble, of the raspberry genus (Rubus) and the rose family (Rosaceae).
As a result of the climate crisis, the holy bramble has had to adapt to the high salinity of the soil. The salt-sensitive plant absorbed salt through its roots and has found a way to process it. The bramble produces an aggregate fruit made up of many individual carpels. In the newly adapted species, these carpels have turned into bubbles of salt. As a result, the fruit of the holy bramble is no longer sweet — it is now salty.
This new property makes it difficult for the raspberries to stay intact. In stormy weather, they fall apart, the carpels falling to the ground, gradually forming a salty layer that changes the color and composition of the soil around the bramble.
