A nonvenomous snake that feeds on amphibians.
The dice snake lives near water and hides in dry holes near the stream. The climate crisis has caused the holes to flood and increased the frequency of wildfires.
The dice snake has had to adapt to swimming in saltwater to find food. Its skeleton has changed accordingly. Its scales now open to mimic water plants and lure in fish for the snake to feed on. On land, the snake changes its color to black to better blend into the black reeds. It gathers the reeds into sheaves using its constriction motion, and the humans use the sheaves for construction.
